Our handcrafted jewellery is made from the Black Pearl oyster shell (Pinctada Margaritifera), farmed in the Cook Islands on the beautiful northern group island of Manihiki.
The shells are farmed only in a very small number of island nations thus making it a rare unique product. Once the pearl have been removed from the oyster shell, we then carefully pick the shells that are suitable for carvings and these are according to their size, thickness and colour. It is a very labour intensive process. A total of 13 stages goes into transforming each piece from the raw shell to the beautiful finished product that you can now wear with pride.
Every piece will be unique because each pattern choice and layout will all be different.
We are now offering for the first time Customisation of pendants, whole shells, key rings and earrings which makes it even more meaningful to the wearer.
We are a local home based company that have been in operation since 1999. Originally operating from Rarotonga for 24 years from our shop in Matavera and at the Saturday market.
We are a household name in the pacific region when it comes to intricate handcrafted specialised carvings on pearls and pearls shells.
What we want to offer you is a unique product whether it be for yourself or as a gift for someone special. Now you can choose the patterns that speaks to you the most or that best represents the person that you would like to gift it to. We will then hand carve the patterns and layout onto the beautiful black pearl oyster shell.

(store owners)
Hailing from the remote island of Manihiki, I grew up around sea life and the beauty of the islands and my culture. Nature have been a great inspiration for my art works.
I started carving with mother of pearl shells from the age of 20, carving just as a hobby for friends and family.
The interest grew into a full fledged business a few years later in 1999.
Many of you would have come through the doors of our shops in Rarotonga. Tourism in the Cook Islands took a hit when Covid put restrictions on our borders for months. We then relocated to New Zealand on the Kāpiti Coast to continue sharing with you this beautiful art form.
